The Center of the Universe

The Middle Ages were a time of religious pilgrimage, and an era that proclaimed Jerusalem as the center of the universe. Wealthy Christians were required to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, but if you couldn't there was another way to make the journey. Read about it (here).

  2. i have walked a labyrinth before and it is a truly spiritual experience...
i wonder if we did take pilgrimages these days if our spiritual lives
would not be better....the walking becomes a meditation in and of itself...

  3. As with Brian, I have walked a labyrinth and found it very spiritually fulfilling. It's an odd sort of experience, especially for an egomaniacal narcissist such as myself. Initially, I wondered what everyone else nearby would think of me making little steps and walking in semi-circles, but it soon became a matter of me focusing on my inner being and connecting with my God. I highly recommend it.

  4. I know a few people who loved talking or even just thinking about visiting Jerusalem.

I'm like, I'd rather avoid that whole region of the world all-together.
