Here’s another illustration that seemed like a good
idea at the time, but I don’t think it’s ever been published. I’ve always been
a lover of bold colors and that love is evident here, even if nothing else is.
Does this picture mean anything to you?
Tomorrow at the new and improved Chubby Chatterbox I'll be sharing one of my favorite Ricky Delgado adventures from my memoir The Kid in the Kaleidoscope. I hope you'll come along for the ride (Here) and I hope you'll take this opportunity to join the new site if you haven't already.

Looks like an old fashion razor blader; intersting design though! Enjoy Sunday

Do you remember the song, Walking On Broken Glass by Annie Lennox? Well that is the first thing I thought of when I seen this. Even though glass is not a razor, both would hurt like heck if you walked on them.
ReplyDeleteDo you see the spot in front of the razor blade where the sun comes through? Does that resemble a dead body or is it my imagination?
Walking on a knife edge? A bit like walking on egg shells.
ReplyDeleteWalking on the razor's edge of life came to mind--and he appears to be unaware of it in his casual off to work attitude. And other people are arriving to climb that ladder (of success?), too. Double -edged sword came to mind, too--but it's not a sword. Very odd painting--yes. Absolutely love the sky and the brightness of the green grass and the streaks of color in the blade.
ReplyDeleteNothing specific comes to mind, but I suspect the artist is not particularly fond of the corporate world's lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteYes, it does mean something to me. It means that people used to be able to buy razor blades at a reasonable cost in an era when men didn't realized their need for multiple blades for every shave.
ReplyDeleteI think few people in todays world are willing to take the risks in this picture.
ReplyDeleteI did join the new site, but it doesn't recognize me and I still have to type in all information, so I am doing something wrong. That art work looks like the message that one must take chances to meet their goals...but there seems to be no goal..so not too sure.
ReplyDeleteIt reflrcts my philosophy on shopping. It's like when K sends me to the store to get an onion or some cheese...."When in doubt, get a BIG one!" ;)

I see the razor representing a city rising out of the landscape -- it casts a great dark shadow with only a bit of sun shining through. There are people -- one at the top -- a man taking his chance on the precipice and another climbing, but not there yet. The top, the razor's edge is not for the faint-hearted. And people in the shadows are waiting for their chance. The vibrancy of the green landscape and the sky is lost to these people -- either the sight is blocked from their view or their face is turned away from it.
ReplyDeleteThe little guy on top will have his balls sliced off if he falls so I see it as a symbol of emasculation. Perhaps the feelings of a man whose wife earns more money than he does.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
it's all about the risks trying to survive in the business world. making a living. climbing the ladder to so called success. or, it may be about the high cost of razor blades. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to join the new site but don't seem to be able to make a connect.
ReplyDeleteHey, that's pretty sharp.
ReplyDeleteOooohhhh...sorry.
